Planning Division
The Planning Division maintains and implements the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance and prepares other specialized planning documents, including a Local Coastal Program. It reviews development requests for conformance with the Cityﾒs planning policies and standards, and conducts environmental review under the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The department provides staff support to the Planning Commission and City Council through the processing of rezonings, subdivisions, use permits, variances and other entitlements.
