GIS (Geographic Information System)
The City of Malibu's GIS program is an interactive mapping and analysis tool that is used to present and view a variety of valuable data from a geographic perspective. The data, also known as layers, are overlayed on a landbase map to provide a reference to geographic features.
At the present time, the City's GIS provides an aerial photo backdrop and several layers of information including zoning designation, general plan designation, and property information for each parcel located in the City. Future projects will add a higher resolution photo backdrop and additional layers such as trails, flood hazard areas, geologic sensitive areas, and environmentally sensitive habitat areas to name a few.
